Preserving 100-Year-Old Trees in Residential Site Planning

Inside the design journey of Camelot by the Lake: How existing trees and jagged rock beds dictated our cantilevered farmhouse geometry.

Designing Around Nature, Not Over It

When we first walked the 6,400 sq ft terrain of Lakhawali for Camelot by the Lake, we encountered three massive neem trees and a natural outcrop of basalt rock. The conventional developer impulse is to bulldoze and level the plot. Instead, we spent two weeks laser-mapping each tree root system.

The resulting villa cantilevers gently over the rocks. The white geometric volumes create framed sightlines where branches pass within arm's reach of the upper terrace.

“We don't conquer landscapes; we choreograph architecture to inhabit them.”
